Lucinda Williams suffered a STROKE in November 2020. She is not yet playing guitar but you’ll see her at the mic with her band Buick 6. She is arguably the world’s alt-folk queen. The Guardian’s Laura Barton writes, “Williams’ voice is a thing not of straightforward beauty, but of sorrow, elasticity and dust.” I agree. Williams is a poet. But unlike Bob Dylan, her words come from a place of deep sadness and loss.
YOUTUBE REMOVED THE VIDEO I POSTED OF LUCINDA WILLIAMS SINGING “ARE YOU DOWN WITH THAT” LIVE on 4/14/2020. PLEASE CHECK IT OUT ON YOUTUBE.
IT HURTS MY AESTHETICS AND COMMUNIQUETICS THAT I CAN’T KEEP IT HERE FOR YOU.
I stumbled upon your substack and this post when I saw you comment on Patti Smith this morning. I had no idea Lucinda had a stroke. How did I miss that? I appreciate watching the 2022 video and seeing how she's doing lately. Do you know if she's able to play guitar? I wouldn't have learned about her upcoming book if I had not seen this. Ordered it today as a birthday present for myself. Thank you!
Thank you, Lucinda! Thank you, Cynie! I bow to you both! (:
